Day 66 – Raleigh, NC

I can’t tell you how excited I was to almost be to Rock Hill, SC. But I had to stop in one other city before I got there. My stay in Raleigh may not have been as long as I originally planned, but I had a good (albeit short) time there. I found a reasonably priced hotel in Chapel Hill, and when I got to town it was too early to check in, so I found lunch downtown Durham. I actually tried one place, Bull City Burger, but couldn’t get the attention of the bartender (even though there was only 1 person at the bar). One of the challenges with a dog, is you can’t exactly enter a restaurant to ask for a table – what’s a single girl to do? So I usually just open the door and try to ask the hostess or another staff member for a table – sadly the girl at this place was not great on customer service.

Anyway, I found a sweet little place around the corner called Dos Perros and while it was almost time for them to close, they allowed us to sit on the patio and get lunch. After lunch and a good margarita, I went to Ponysaurus (greatest brewery name!). Dogs can’t go in the tasting room, but their patio is covered, large, and has misters. The beer was great too! After I had beer there, I went to Fullsteam Brewery, where they had an open belly dancing night. So unusual! Jasper and I watched a bit, had some beer and food, and then found our hotel for the night.

The next day, I again attempted a dog friendly café, but they had 3 outside tables that were all taken. I found another place called BREW coffee bar, and had a great latte and Greek yogurt while reading. After a relaxing breakfast, I got the idea in my head to find a consignment/used clothing store. I found a placed called Revolver that allowed Jasper to shop with me. I got a new pair of shorts and a couple dresses. I also realized how much I like shopping for used clothes, I know so many clothes get thrown out every year, and buying new always seems like such a waste when there is so much out there for cheaper prices and good quality! I’m looking forward to continuing the trend of consignment/thrift shopping in my life.

At that point, I was ready to drive to Rock Hill. I enjoyed my short stay in the Raleigh/Durham area, but was so ready to see my friend and her family!
